Ophelia
©2000 by Hesse Carrington

Lover, please stop.
You're making me Ophelia.
Veiled in sorrow,
Scattering petals like a bride,
For you I mourn.
Rosemary for remembrance,
Pansies for thoughts.
Love's soon forgot after
Nectar's sucked dry.
Dirty broken-winged vieja
Contemplating
Flight--from the branches I leap,
Into your fathoms
I sink.  With currents I drift--
Stifled face down,
Like a once beloved plaything
Drowned--a paralyzed doll.
