in the night
a lonely child cries
waiting for the light
the shadows of the streets
scare this child so
where is your conscience
do you really know

a woman screams
a man took away her dignity
and her dreams
now in place of her joyous laugh
is a sorrowful cry
lost is her self worth
all she wants is to die

somewhere deep inside
each and everyone of us
there is a helping hand
just stretch it out
and touch someone's heart
help restruct a life
