Equivocal
©2000 by Bastet

I  must maintain this innocence, sweet darkness
May I share my shadow  with you tonight?
I question you, as I lay back against this pink Bodhi
flowered tree

Do you hold yourself hostage in this soil I lived on
so long ago?
Filled with blank glares and loaded regrets.....

I skate on and over these hills because I am not yet
tall
Always equivocal...

My hair falls long, but still sheds itself
My hands  weak, but shake violently
My heart untouched, but not pure

I'd hollow out my insides and shed this skin to be
enlightened
Thus I have gotten away with many fragile deaths in
return

Always equivocal...
